The flight testing process of the single seater GENPRO aerobatic aircraft is divided into two main phases. The first part is about the examination of the aircraft’s basic flying qualities, monitoring its performance and checking the operation of its systems. The second phase is all about aerobatics.
The first phase consists of three additional phases that allows us test the followings:
- ground system testing, low and high speed taxi test, ground maneuverability
- lift offs, low level flights
- evaluation of the aircraft’s general flying qualities with this engine-propeller-airframe configuration
- engine cooling test
- calibration of the pitot-static system
- stability and control tests
- evaluation of the stall and spin characteristics
- performances (take off-landing, climb, cruise, glide etc.).
- evaluation of aeroelastic phenomenas
- flight testing of the aircraft’s systems
In the second part we examine the aerobatic charateristics of the aircraft. This section is also divided into three different phases. In the first phase we test the main Aresti aerobatic figures separately. In the the second phase putting up the several figures, we perform complex aerobatics and in the third phase we examine the gyroscopic maneuvers which are followed by complex aerobatics with maneuvres, used in aerobatic shows.
The entire flight test is based on a build up approach and expansion of the flight envelope, which is completed by the examination of the entire speed and load range of the aircraft.
Our main goal is to achieve a comprehensive, stage by stage and safe flight test. The main task of the first phase is to make sure that the aircraft is safe to fly and that it complies with EASA CS-23 regulations. If the aircraft meets the above requirements it can be forwarded to the aerobatic phase.
Within this phase we will investigate the characteristics of each figure, determine the correct entry speeds and piloting techniques of the individual aerobatic figures.
The flight test program will be carried out in two main phasesby two pilots with different aviation background and experience. The first will be done by Tamás and the second by François. The flight tests will take place with some overlap between the two main phases to make sure that both pilots can voice their opinion regarding the flying qualities of the aircraft, so that all possible future changes will be done based on their common agreement.
